| Casa Las Tortugas |
Casa las Tortugas is a hotelito located on the island "Isla Holbox" - one of the best-kept secrets of Mexico, not known to a lot of Mexicans outside the Yucatan area. Isla Holbox is an island with a lot of wildlife. Without even looking for them, you'll see flamingos, fregate, pelicans, sea turtles, dolphins, and from June through September you'll even see Whale Sharks! Isla Holbox was settled by pirates who intermarried with the local Mayans living in the area. There are no cars on the island. All transportation is by golf cart or bicycle. There are no high-rise hotels like in Cancun, only palapa-style hotels.
The Hotelito: Casa las Tortugas is built in authentic Mayan style palapas, hand-built by the owners Greta and her daughter Francesca. Not one room is the same - each has great architecture and details. The hotel has only 11 rooms, so the service they provide is personal and friendly!
If you want to lie in the sun on our private beaches, snorkel with the gigantic Whale Sharks, go fly-fishing, walk for miles on sugar-white beaches without seeing a soul, or water sports like kite surfing, you can do it all at Casa las Tortugas. The ambiance of the tropical garden and the friendly Italian attention are a unique experience. The hotelito is directly located at our Sugar White Private Beach! After a day of relaxing or activity, you can drink a cocktail or some refreshments and enjoy the sunset at our Café.
